Does LTIMindtree Sponsor H-1B Visas? Not on the PERM List, but Check These Five Things First

LTIMindtree was not among the eight employers DOL froze out of PERM in October, but your employer entity, client site and green-card timing still need checking before you sign.

Part of our guide to PERM labor certification.

Does LTIMindtree sponsor H-1B visas? Yes, and as of November 1, 2026 it is not on the Department of Labor's PERM suspension list. Its FY2024 record in the USCIS H-1B Employer Data Hub, 798 initial and 1,338 continuing approvals against 12 denials, is one of the largest in our index. When DOL announced on 2026-10-08 that it had suspended PERM green-card processing for eight employers (Microsoft, Adobe, Cognizant, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, HCL and Capgemini), LTIMindtree was not named. That is not a green-card promise, so run the five checks below before you sign.

One naming note: the company's website now reads "LTIMindtree is now LTM" (ltm.com), and according to a February 2026 Business Standard report, its board approved renaming the company LTM Limited. We did not confirm whether the legal name has changed, so your offer letter, LCA and I-129 may use either name.

Status as of 2026-11-01. In effect: DOL's PERM suspension of eight employers (announced 2026-10-08; no written notice or end date), which does not include LTIMindtree; the $4,000 9-11 fee on H-1B petitions, extensions included, for covered employers. Blocked: the agency policies for collecting the $100,000 H-1B fee (Proclamation 11069 stands on paper; the fee is not collected). Proposed, not law: ending the 60-day worker grace period for H-1B and other work visas, not F-1 (comments close 2026-11-10), and removing deference on extensions (comments close 2026-11-13). Not announced: the FY2028 H-1B registration.

Does LTIMindtree sponsor H-1B visas in 2026?

Yes. LTIMindtree Limited received 798 initial and 1,338 continuing H-1B approvals from USCIS in FY2024, with 12 denials across both, a 99.4% approval rate on first decisions. As of November 1, 2026, we found no public DOL or USCIS action naming LTIMindtree, and it is not among the eight employers under DOL's October 2026 PERM suspension.

What those FY2024 numbers (October 2023 to September 2024) do and do not tell you:

The year-by-year record is on LTIMindtree's employer data page, which lists Warren, New Jersey as its main filing location.

Is LTIMindtree affected by the PERM suspension?

No, not as of November 1, 2026. LTIMindtree was not named in DOL's October 8 announcement, so no public action stops it from filing PERM labor certifications. The caution is that the announcement itself is thin: no FLAG or Federal Register notice for any of the eight, and no basis or end date. 20 CFR 656.31 allows a PERM suspension of up to 180 days during a fraud probe, but DOL has not said it is using it. A list with no written notice can change, so recheck before relying on a PERM filing.

Our explainer on what DOL's PERM suspension of eight employers actually does covers the mechanics, and the reality check on TCS, Infosys and Cognizant covers how the large Indian IT sponsors compare.

The five checks before you join LTIMindtree

Each check pairs one question for HR with one public record.

CheckWhat to askWhere to verify
1. Petitioner entityWho is my employer of record and H-1B petitioner?Offer letter; Data Hub under every company name
2. WorksiteClient or LTIMindtree office? Is that address on the LCA?LCA disclosure data; your copy of the LCA
3. PERM historyHow many PERM cases, in which quarter?DOL PERM disclosure file (FY2026 Q3 is latest)
4. 9-11 feeIs LTIMindtree a covered employer, and does that change its extension policy?HR or immigration team
5. I-140 timelineWhen would my PERM start, and in which category?Written green-card policy; FLAG processing times

1. Which entity is actually your employer?

Start with the name on the offer letter. Some postings advertise "LTIMindtree" projects staffed by a vendor; if a staffing firm employs you and places you on an LTIMindtree engagement, the vendor is your sponsor and LTIMindtree's record says nothing about it. Look up the vendor instead.

If LTIMindtree is the employer, search every name it has used. Larsen & Toubro Infotech and Mindtree merged in November 2022, so older years sit under the pre-merger names, and later filings may appear as LTM. The Hub uses "the most common spelling of employer name per unique tax ID," so a rename can shift where records appear.

2. Where will you work, and does the paperwork match?

IT services work often happens at a client's site. On H-1B, the LCA must cover the place you actually work, and client-site petitions are often backed by client letters or statements of work. Ask for the client, the address and what happens when the project ends.

Between projects, if you are "in a nonproductive status due to a decision by the employer," 20 CFR 655.731(c)(7) requires the employer to keep paying the required wage. On STEM OPT, USCIS's STEM OPT page requires the employer to be enrolled in E-Verify and to sign the Form I-983 training plan. Whether a client placement fits that plan is covered in our guide to STEM OPT at a consulting firm with client-site placement; take the I-983 itself to your DSO.

USCIS's draft rule "Reforming the H-1B Nonimmigrant Visa Classification Program" (RIN 1615-AD00) has been under OIRA review since 2026-08-24, with no public text. Its agenda abstract mentions "increasing oversight over third party placements"; it changes nothing for you today.

3. What does DOL's PERM data show, by quarter?

Aggregator sites disagree on LTIMindtree's PERM volume, and none of them is the record. DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification posts the disclosure files on its performance data page; as of 2026-11-01 the latest PERM and LCA files are FY2026 Q3, covering determinations through 2026-06-30. Count cases yourself, by status (certified, denied, withdrawn, expired), and write down the quarter.

Then compare PERM cases with LCAs for the same period: thousands of LCAs against few PERMs tells you how far down the workforce green cards reach. The PERM-to-LCA ratio test shows how to read it.

4. Is LTIMindtree a covered employer for the 9-11 fee?

The 9-11 fee comes from Public Law 114-113 (2015). Under the 9-11 Biometric Fee final rule (published 2026-08-10, effective 2026-09-09), a covered employer now pays $4,000 on H-1B petitions postmarked through 2027-09-30, extensions included; amended petitions that do not seek an extension are exempt. Covered means 50 or more US employees with more than 50% in H-1B or L-1 status, part-time workers counted, as USCIS's PA-2026-16 (2026-10-27) restates.

We found no public source saying whether LTIMindtree is covered; only the employer knows its headcount mix, so ask. If it is, each extension costs it $4,000 more (our reading), so also ask whether that changes its extension policy for roles like yours. This 50% test is separate from the 15% H-1B-dependency test below.

5. When would your I-140 clock start?

Ask for the green-card policy in writing: when the prevailing wage request starts, EB-2 or EB-3, and who pays. 20 CFR 656.12(b) says an employer "must not seek or receive payment of any kind for any activity related to obtaining permanent labor certification," and it counts "deductions from wages" as payment.

Then compare that policy with DOL's queue. As of 2026-10-21, FLAG processing times showed PERM analyst review at January 2026 priority dates and an average analyst review of 303 days; prevailing wage determinations were at June 2026 receipts as of 2026-09-30. The next update is expected around 2026-11-06, so check the live page.

The November 2026 Visa Bulletin then decides when you can file or finish:

USCIS requires the Dates for Filing chart for November I-485s (USCIS filing charts); consular cases always use Final Action Dates. The December bulletin was not out as of 2026-11-01, so any December date you see is a forecast. A worked timeline: joining LTIMindtree by H-1B transfer

This scenario is hypothetical. Your first H-1B began on 2022-10-01 with another employer, so your six years end on 2028-09-30 (before any recapture of time abroad). You transfer to LTIMindtree on 2027-01-04.

For a one-year extension past six years, 8 CFR 214.2(h)(13)(iii)(D) needs a PERM or I-140 filed at least 365 days before the extension takes effect: for 2028-10-01, by about 2027-10-01 (our arithmetic). A PERM filing needs a prevailing wage determination and recruitment first, and the wage queue alone ran about three months behind in late September 2026 (our arithmetic from FLAG). On those queue times, the wage request would need to go in within the first few months of your start, so ask whether LTIMindtree's policy starts PERM that early.

If it starts later, two rules may help. "The H-1B petitioner need not be the employer that filed the application for labor certification," so a prior employer's PERM or I-140 can count if it has not been denied, revoked or closed. And an approved I-140 supports three-year extensions under AC21 section 104(c) while the per-country limit keeps a visa unavailable, for example for an India-born applicant whose priority date is later than the November 2026 Final Action Date. Whether either fits your history is a question for an immigration attorney before you resign.

Is LTIMindtree an H-1B dependent employer?

We could not confirm it from the public sources we checked, so do not assume either way. The test, in 20 CFR 655.736, is a ratio. For an employer with at least 51 full-time-equivalent US employees, it is dependent if it "Employs H-1B nonimmigrants in a number that is equal to at least 15 percent of the number of such full-time equivalent employees."

Why it matters: a dependent employer makes extra attestations about not displacing and about recruiting US workers, unless the LCA covers only "exempt" workers. Under 20 CFR 655.737, you are exempt if paid at least $60,000 a year or holding a master's or higher degree in a specialty related to the job. Each LCA records the employer's dependency answer, so search LTIMindtree's LCA filings or ask HR. A bill that would replace the $60,000 line for dependent employers with twice the national average wage index (S. 5638 / H.R. 10799) is introduced and referred only.

Does LTIMindtree hire US graduates on OPT?

The Data Hub cannot answer that directly, because its initial approvals mix F-1 students moving into H-1B with hires from abroad. Ask the recruiter whether the role accepts OPT or STEM OPT candidates and whether LTIMindtree will register you in the next H-1B lottery.

CRS Insight IN12747 (2026-10-14) reported that Cognizant, Infosys and Tata submitted 100%, 91% and 95% fewer FY2027 registrations; we found no comparable public figure for LTIMindtree. Wage-weighted selection has been in effect since 2026-02-27, so your registration's wage level changes your odds. The FY2028 registration has not been announced; USCIS must announce the start at least 30 days ahead, and its registration page still shows FY2027.

OPT basics still apply. Cap-gap extends your status and OPT work to April 1 (or the petition start date, if earlier) when a timely, cap-subject change-of-status petition is filed. Unemployment is capped at 90 days on OPT and 150 in aggregate with STEM OPT (SEVIS counter). The $100,000 fee is not being collected, and USCIS's H-1B page (updated 2026-09-21) says it never reached a change of status granted inside the US; a denied one would be covered if collection resumed.

How to verify LTIMindtree's record yourself

  1. Search the USCIS H-1B Employer Data Hub for LTIMindtree, the two pre-merger names and LTM; note initial and continuing approvals separately.
  2. Download the FY2026 Q3 LCA and PERM disclosure files from DOL's OFLC performance page; filter LCAs by employer, job title and worksite city, and count PERM cases by status.
  3. Check DOL Wage and Hour's H-1B debarment list for the employer and any vendor in your chain.
  4. Read DOL's FLAG processing-times page for the PERM and prevailing wage queues.
  5. Email HR your five questions and keep the written answers with your offer.
  6. Take STEM OPT and I-983 questions to your DSO, and PERM, AC21 or transfer timing to an immigration attorney.

Frequently asked questions

Does LTIMindtree sponsor H-1B?

Yes. USCIS data shows 798 initial and 1,338 continuing H-1B approvals for LTIMindtree Limited in FY2024 against 12 denials, 99.4% approved on first decision. As of 2026-11-01 we found no public DOL or USCIS action naming it. Sponsorship is still decided role by role, so ask before you accept.

Does LTIMindtree sponsor green cards?

It can. As of 2026-11-01 it is not among the eight employers under DOL's 2026-10-08 PERM suspension. When and for whom it files PERM is company policy, so count its cases in DOL's FY2026 Q3 PERM disclosure file (the latest public quarter, through 2026-06-30) and ask HR for the policy in writing.

Is LTIMindtree affected by the PERM suspension?

Not as of 2026-11-01. DOL's 2026-10-08 announcement named Microsoft, Adobe, Cognizant, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, HCL and Capgemini, not LTIMindtree. DOL has published no written notice, legal basis or end date even for those eight, so recheck before relying on a PERM filing.

Does LTIMindtree hire US graduates on OPT?

USCIS data does not break out OPT hires; the 798 FY2024 initial approvals mix F-1 students moving into H-1B with hires from abroad. For STEM OPT the employer must be enrolled in E-Verify and sign your Form I-983. Ask whether the role will be entered in the FY2028 H-1B registration, not announced as of 2026-11-01.

Is LTIMindtree an H-1B dependent employer?

We could not confirm it from public sources, so do not assume either way. Under 20 CFR 655.736, an employer with 51 or more full-time-equivalent US employees is dependent if its H-1B workers equal at least 15 percent of them. Each LCA records the answer, so check recent LCAs in DOL's disclosure data or ask HR.

How we checked this: USCIS Data Hub figures for FY2024, DOL OFLC and FLAG pages, USCIS policy and fee pages, the regulations linked above and the company's own website, read on or before 2026-11-01. The LTM Limited rename is a press report we did not confirm against a company filing.

This is general information, not legal or tax advice; your own I-797, I-94 and I-20 govern, and your DSO (for OPT and STEM OPT) or an immigration attorney (for petitions and green-card strategy) should confirm anything you act on.
