Does Deutsche Bank Sponsor H-1B Visas? Cary Tech Center, New York Banking and the OPT Route
Deutsche Bank files H-1B petitions through a Cary tech entity and a New York securities entity, and the city on your offer can change your lottery weight.

Part of our guide to companies that sponsor H-1B visas.
Yes, Deutsche Bank sponsors H-1B visas, through two different US legal employers. USCIS's H-1B Employer Data Hub shows 80 initial-employment H-1B approvals in FY2024 for the two Deutsche Bank filing entities in our data: 43 at DB Global Technology, Inc., whose filings carry a Cary, North Carolina address, and 37 at Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. in New York. So if you are on OPT and asking "does Deutsche Bank sponsor H-1B" for a tech or banking role, the answer is yes, decided role by role, through whichever entity hires you. The worksite city on that offer also changes how your lottery registration is weighted.
Status, as of 2026-11-01. In effect: wage-weighted H-1B selection, since 2026-02-27. Not announced: FY2028 H-1B registration (USCIS must give at least 30 days' notice). Blocked: collection of the $100,000 H-1B payment, with appeals pending. Proposed only: DOL's rule to raise prevailing-wage levels (RIN 1205-AC30).
Does Deutsche Bank sponsor H-1B? The short answer
Yes. Deutsche Bank sponsors H-1B workers through two entities in USCIS's data: DB Global Technology, Inc., a technology entity with a Cary, North Carolina address, and Deutsche Bank Securities Inc., a securities entity in New York. In FY2024 they recorded 80 initial and 157 continuing H-1B approvals between them, with 3 denials in 240 first decisions. Sponsorship is decided role by role.
An H-1B petition is filed by one legal employer, not a brand: the entity on your offer letter files your Labor Condition Application (LCA) with the Department of Labor, signs your Form I-129 and appears as the petitioner on your I-797.
DB Global Technology vs Deutsche Bank Securities: which one sponsors you?
The one named on your offer letter. The names suggest technology roles in Cary sit in DB Global Technology and securities roles in New York in Deutsche Bank Securities Inc., but USCIS data does not show job types, and another Deutsche Bank legal entity could file under a different name. Read the entity name on your offer instead of assuming.

| Entity (as filed) | Address on file | Initial approvals | Initial denials | Continuing approvals | Continuing denials | Approval rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DB Global Technology, Inc. | Cary, NC | 43 | 0 | 117 | 2 | 98.8% (160 of 162) |
| Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. | New York, NY | 37 | 1 | 40 | 0 | 98.7% (77 of 78) |
| Both | 80 | 1 | 157 | 2 | 98.8% (237 of 240) |
Approval rates are our arithmetic: approvals divided by approvals plus denials. Entity profiles are on our pages for DB Global Technology and Deutsche Bank Securities.
How to read the Deutsche Bank numbers
- The address is not your worksite. USCIS's Understanding Our H-1B Employer Data Hub page says the city and state come from "the mailing address of the employer" and are "not necessarily the beneficiary(ies) work location." Cary-addressed approvals do not prove every one of those workers sits in Cary.
- Initial approvals matter most if you are on OPT. They generally reflect new H-1B employment, which is where a first H-1B, including a cap case for someone moving from F-1 OPT, shows up. Continuing approvals reflect people already in H-1B employment.
- The two entities file differently. About a quarter of DB Global Technology's FY2024 first decisions were initial (43 of 162); at Deutsche Bank Securities it was nearly half (37 of 78), by our arithmetic. That describes FY2024 filings. It is not a hiring forecast.
- We report FY2024 figures. The USCIS H-1B Employer Data Hub now says it covers fiscal year 2009 through fiscal year 2026 (quarter 4), so check newer years and other Deutsche Bank name variants there.
- A high approval rate is not your odds. Petitions come after lottery selection, and for FY2026 USCIS selected 120,141 of 343,981 eligible registrations.
Why Cary vs New York can change your lottery weight
Since 2026-02-27, each cap registration is weighted by the highest DOL wage level your offered salary meets for your occupation code in the area where you will work. Cary sits mostly in DOL's Raleigh-Cary, NC wage area, where the levels for most occupations are lower than in New York. So the same salary can reach a higher level, and more lottery entries, in Cary.
The weighted selection final rule sets the entries: a Level IV registration "will be entered into the selection pool four times," Level III three times, Level II two times and Level I one time. USCIS's H-1B electronic registration page says the selection is based generally on the highest OEWS wage level the offered wage equals or exceeds, and the rule measures that level for the job's Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) code in the area of intended employment.
Worked example: one salary, two Deutsche Bank cities
These are DOL's own thresholds from the OFLC wage data downloads for the current wage year, which DOL labels 7/2026 to 6/2027. The rule locks in the wage data in effect on the registration date, so these are the levels a registration filed before July 2027 would be measured against, unless DOL changes them first. In that file, 830 occupations have all four levels published for both areas, and for 657 of them every level is lower in Raleigh-Cary (our count).
OFLC prevailing wage levels, All Industries, wage year July 2026 to June 2027, as of 2026-11. Annual figures are DOL's hourly rates times 2,080 hours (our arithmetic), rounded to the dollar.
| Occupation (SOC) | DOL wage area | Level I | Level II | Level III | Level IV |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Software Developers (15-1252) | Raleigh-Cary, NC | $89,398 | $112,902 | $136,406 | $159,910 |
| Software Developers (15-1252) | New York-Newark-Jersey City, NY-NJ | $109,845 | $137,717 | $165,589 | $193,461 |
| Financial and Investment Analysts (13-2051) | Raleigh-Cary, NC | $64,771 | $84,406 | $104,062 | $123,698 |
| Financial and Investment Analysts (13-2051) | New York-Newark-Jersey City, NY-NJ | $87,339 | $117,686 | $148,054 | $178,402 |
Now take a hypothetical $140,000 software developer offer (an illustration, not a Deutsche Bank salary):
- Worksite in Cary: $140,000 clears Level III ($136,406). The registration goes in three times.
- Worksite in Manhattan: $140,000 clears Level II ($137,717) but not Level III. It goes in two times.
- Split between both cities: the rule says that if the beneficiary will work in multiple locations, "the petitioner must select the lowest corresponding OEWS wage level that the beneficiary's proffered wage will equal or exceed." That is Level II.
The gap is wider for finance titles. A hypothetical $110,000 financial analyst salary reaches Level III in Raleigh-Cary but only Level I in New York.
Common misconception: "A Cary job triples your lottery odds." Correction: Three entries beat one, but your chance is not simply multiplied by the entry count, and nobody knows the real odds until USCIS sees how many registrations arrive at each level. What counts is the salary in your offer, not the city alone. The SOC code and worksite are the employer's legal determinations based on the real job, the petition must include evidence of the wage level as of the registration date, and DHS says the multiple-location rule "removes a potential incentive to inflate wage levels through strategic location choices, including through remote work." The worksite is a fact of the job, not a lever.
Two more things to know. A worksite on Cary's western edge in Chatham County falls in DOL's Durham-Chapel Hill area, not Raleigh-Cary, so use the actual address. And DOL's prevailing-wage NPRM (RIN 1205-AC30) would raise every level, with Level I moving from the 17th to the 34th percentile; it is proposed only, with no final rule as of 2026-11-01. Our guide to how each wage level changes your lottery odds goes deeper.
Does Deutsche Bank hire OPT students in Cary?
Its filing record suggests it hires people who need sponsorship: DB Global Technology had 43 initial-employment approvals in FY2024, the category where OPT-to-H-1B moves appear. The Hub does not say how many were former students, so ask the recruiter whether the team accepts candidates who will need sponsorship.
What to check for a Cary offer on OPT:
- STEM OPT readiness. The USCIS STEM OPT page requires the employer to be enrolled in E-Verify and to sign Form I-983, the training plan. Confirm the hiring entity does both.
- Unemployment limits. You can be unemployed for 90 days on post-completion OPT and 150 days in aggregate on STEM OPT, per the SEVIS Help Hub.
- The junior squeeze. Revelio Labs (published 2026-10-13, updated 10-22) found junior headcount at US banks 4.7% below its October 2022 level, which its authors read as restructuring rather than automation. Revelio does not name Deutsche Bank, so read it as a sector signal, not a Deutsche Bank hiring figure.
Our guide to H-1B sponsorship for tech and data roles at investment banks covers how to pitch an engineering background. To compare Cary with other Triangle employers, see our Research Triangle H-1B jobs guide; for North Carolina's other banking hub, see our Charlotte banking and fintech H-1B guide.
Internships during your degree usually run on CPT. SEVP's CPT broadcasts are in effect as guidance and challenged in AAU v. DHS (D. Mass.), with a preliminary-injunction hearing set for 2026-11-06 at 3:00 p.m. and no ruling as of 2026-11-01; check for one after that date. Your DSO decides what your school will authorize.
Worked timeline: a December graduate at DB Global Technology
A hypothetical. You finished a STEM master's in December 2025 and work as a software developer at DB Global Technology in Cary on post-completion OPT, with an EAD valid 2026-02-02 to 2027-02-01. Your OPT ends before the next lottery, which changes the order of everything.
Worked timeline with status labels, as of 2026-11.
| Date | What happens | Status as of 2026-11-01 |
|---|---|---|
| About 2026-11-03 | STEM OPT filing window opens, up to 90 days before your EAD ends (our count; confirm with your DSO) | STEM OPT rules in effect |
| Before 2027-02-01 | Give your DSO the Form I-983 signed by DB Global Technology; after the DSO's SEVIS recommendation, file the STEM OPT I-765 within 60 days of it | Timely filing triggers the 180-day automatic extension, in effect and unchanged by the 2026-10-14 EAD rule |
| 2027-02-01 | Post-completion EAD ends. No H-1B petition is pending yet, so cap-gap does not apply here; STEM OPT is what keeps you working | Date set by your EAD |
| Expected March 2027 | FY2028 registration, if DB Global Technology registers you; the registration claims the level your salary meets for your SOC code in Raleigh-Cary | Not announced; FY2027 ran March 4 to 19 with a $215 fee |
| From April 2027, if selected | DB Global Technology files Form I-129 with a change of status | Depends on selection |
| 2027-10-01 | Earliest FY2028 H-1B start date | Depends on approval |
| If not selected | STEM OPT through 2029-02-01 also covers the FY2029 season, if USCIS keeps a March calendar | Expectation only |
If the bank asks you to move to New York, treat it as an immigration event. A New York worksite means a future registration is measured against New York wages. If the move also shifts you to Deutsche Bank Securities, that is a different employer: on STEM OPT it must meet the E-Verify and Form I-983 requirements, and you must report the new employer name and address to your DSO within 10 days. Ask the bank's immigration counsel about the move, and your DSO about the training plan, before you accept.
How to confirm Deutsche Bank will sponsor your role
- Read your offer letter for the exact employing entity (DB Global Technology, Inc. or Deutsche Bank Securities Inc.), the job title and the worksite address.
- Search that entity in the USCIS H-1B Employer Data Hub and compare initial with continuing approvals by fiscal year.
- Look up your likely SOC code and worksite area in the OFLC Wage Search for the July 2026 to June 2027 wage year to see which level your salary reaches.
- Check the OFLC LCA disclosure files on the DOL performance data page (latest file FY2026 Q3, through 2026-06-30) for that entity's job titles, worksites and wage levels.
- Ask the recruiter in writing whether the role is eligible for H-1B sponsorship, whether the bank will register you for FY2028, and which SOC code and wage level the registration would claim.
- Confirm with HR that the hiring entity is enrolled in E-Verify and will sign Form I-983 if you may need STEM OPT.
- Report your employer details as your DSO directs (the SEVP Portal is one route on post-completion OPT), and ask how your OPT dates line up with the registration calendar.
- Consult a licensed immigration attorney before a move between entities or cities, or travel while a petition is pending. The bank's counsel represents the bank.
Does Deutsche Bank sponsor green cards?
This guide gives no count. Employment-based green cards start with a DOL PERM labor certification and then Form I-140, so search both entity names in DOL's PERM disclosure files (latest public file FY2026 Q3). Deutsche Bank is not among the eight employers whose PERM filings DOL announced it had suspended on 2026-10-08.
The Cary-versus-New York split matters here too, because the PERM prevailing wage is set for the worksite area. Where the process stands:
- PERM processing. DOL's FLAG processing page put analyst review at January 2026 priority dates as of 2026-10-21 (an average of 303 days for August 2026), and prevailing wage determinations at June 2026 receipts as of 2026-09-30.
- Rules. DOL's PERM labor-market-test NPRM (RIN 1205-AC29) cleared White House review on 2026-10-23 but is unpublished; today's PERM rules still apply.
After PERM and Form I-140, the wait for a green card depends heavily on where you were born.
November 2026 Visa Bulletin, employment-based, Final Action Date / Dates for Filing. USCIS requires the Dates for Filing chart for November I-485s; consular cases always use Final Action Dates. The December bulletin was not out as of 2026-11-01.

Does Deutsche Bank accept H-1B transfers?
Both entities file for people already in H-1B status: 157 continuing-employment approvals in FY2024, 117 in Cary and 40 in New York. Our extract does not separate transfers from extensions and amendments, so check the change-of-employer figures in the Data Hub. A transfer is a new I-129 filed by the new employer with its own LCA for your worksite; our H-1B transfer basics guide explains the process. USCIS says change-of-status, amendment and extension requests it grants inside the US were never covered by the $100,000 payment, which is blocked anyway; the USCIS I-129 page adds, "If this order is later lifted, DHS still plans to collect the payment." For a peer that also files through several entities, see how Barclays splits its H-1B filings.
Common mistakes
- Searching only "Deutsche Bank." That misses DB Global Technology, which had more FY2024 approvals than Deutsche Bank Securities.
- Reading the Hub address as the worksite. USCIS says it is a mailing address.
- Treating a Cary wage level as automatic. The level depends on your salary, your SOC code and your actual worksite, and a split worksite takes the lowest level.
- Counting continuing approvals as openings. Only initial approvals reflect new H-1B employment.
- Treating a Cary-to-New York move as an HR formality. It can change your petitioner, your wage area and your SEVIS reporting.
- Waiting for the FY2028 announcement. The employer registers you, and the FY2027 window lasted 16 days.
