Does UBS Sponsor H-1B Visas? Nashville Business Solutions, Wall Street Roles and STEM OPT
UBS files H-1B petitions under more than one US legal entity, and whether your role sits in the Nashville hub or a front-office seat can change your wage level, lottery entries and paperwork.

Part of our guide to companies that sponsor H-1B visas.
Yes. UBS sponsors H-1B visas, and it files under more than one US legal name. In the USCIS H-1B Employer Data Hub for fiscal year 2024, UBS Business Solutions US LLC, which lists a Nashville mailing address, received 35 initial-employment approvals and 190 continuing approvals with no denials, and UBS Securities LLC received 16 initial and 23 continuing approvals, also with no denials. So the useful version of "does UBS sponsor H1B" is narrower: which UBS entity is hiring you, where will you sit, and what wage level does that worksite give your lottery registration?
Status as of 2026-11-01: wage-weighted H-1B selection is in effect (since 2026-02-27). FY2028 registration is not announced (USCIS's registration page still shows FY2027), and USCIS must give at least 30 days' notice. The $100,000 H-1B payment is not being collected because courts vacated the agency guidance behind it (USCIS I-129 page), though Proclamation 11069 stays in effect on paper until 2027-09-21. USCIS's H-1B page says it does not apply to a change of status granted inside the US, such as OPT to H-1B.
Does UBS sponsor H-1B? The short answer
UBS sponsors H-1B workers through at least two US entities. USCIS recorded 225 first decisions for UBS Business Solutions US LLC and 39 for UBS Securities LLC in FY2024, with zero denials at either. Most Business Solutions decisions were continuing approvals, so new-hire sponsorship is smaller, and a first H-1B from OPT still has to clear the wage-weighted lottery.
Our Wall Street H-1B sponsorship overview covers the sector, and the Goldman Sachs H-1B guide and Bank of America H-1B guide apply the same entity-by-entity method to two other large sponsors.
UBS H-1B data by entity (FY2024)
The table uses the exact names the Hub prints, so you can search them yourself.
USCIS H-1B Employer Data Hub, FY2024 first decisions, as extracted for our company pages (as of 2026-11)
| Petitioner (name in the Hub) | Initial approvals | Initial denials | Continuing approvals | Continuing denials | Total decisions | Initial share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| UBS BUSINESS SOLUTIONS US LLC | 35 | 0 | 190 | 0 | 225 | 15.6% |
| UBS SECURITIES LLC | 16 | 0 | 23 | 0 | 39 | 41.0% |
| Both entities (our arithmetic) | 51 | 0 | 213 | 0 | 264 | 19.3% |
"Initial share" is our arithmetic: initial approvals divided by total decisions.
- Business Solutions mostly keeps people. 190 of its 225 decisions (84%, our arithmetic) were continuing approvals, which cover workers already in H-1B status, such as extensions. Initial approvals cover new employment, which is where a first H-1B from OPT falls. Thirty-five in a year is real new-hire sponsorship, but the smaller part of the picture.
- The securities entity skews toward new employment. UBS Securities LLC is far smaller, yet 16 of its 39 decisions (41%) were initial. Small one-year numbers swing, so treat that as a pattern to check, not a trend.
- Zero denials is not a promise. It describes petitions UBS chose to file. Every FY2024 decision also predates PA-2026-05 (in effect since 2026-08-05 and challenged in AAUP v. Mullin), which lets USCIS deny without a request for evidence when required initial evidence is missing.
Why both entities show Nashville in the Hub
In our extract, both UBS entities list Nashville, Tennessee as their city. USCIS's guide to the Data Hub says the city field is "the City indicated in the mailing address of the employer" and "is not necessarily the beneficiary(ies) work location." The worksite is on the Labor Condition Application (LCA), which is public in DOL's disclosure files.
Common misconception: "UBS's H-1B data says Nashville, so UBS only sponsors back-office jobs in Tennessee." Correction: the Hub records the employer's mailing address, not your desk. Filter DOL's LCA disclosure files by the entity name and read the worksite, job title, occupation code and wage columns.
What is UBS Business Solutions in Nashville?
UBS's Nashville office is a support hub rather than a client-facing office. UBS's Nashville careers page says it offers "a vast array of services across technology, operations, compliance, risk, legal, human resources and finance," and lists Finance, Technology, Operations, Global Wealth Management, Internal Consulting and Legal as hiring areas. The page does not name a legal entity. UBS Business Solutions US LLC has a name that fits that support model and a Nashville mailing address in the Hub, so in our reading it is the likeliest filer for hub roles, but only your offer letter settles it.
A hub runs the bank's software, operations, financial control, risk, compliance and legal work. The front office is the client-facing revenue side: deal teams, sales and trading, research and client coverage. For a visa holder the difference changes three things on your paperwork: the legal entity that employs you, the occupation code your employer assigns, and the metropolitan area whose wage data sets your level.
Nashville hub role vs New York front-office role, what changes for your visa (as of 2026-11)
| Question | Nashville hub role | New York front-office role |
|---|---|---|
| Typical functions | Technology, operations, finance, risk, compliance, legal (UBS's Nashville careers page) | Deal teams, sales and trading, research, client coverage |
| Who files your H-1B | The UBS entity named on your offer letter; in FY2024 data, UBS Business Solutions US LLC was the larger filer | The UBS entity named on your offer letter, which may be a securities entity |
| Wage area on the LCA | Nashville metropolitan area | New York metropolitan area |
| Wage data used | OFLC wage year 2026-27 (BLS May 2025 estimates) | The same data set, with New York's figures |
| Lottery entries | Your salary against Nashville's four levels for your occupation code | Your salary against New York's four levels for your occupation code |
| STEM OPT duties | E-Verify enrollment and a signed I-983 from the employing entity | Same |
Why does a Nashville role's wage level differ from New York's?
Prevailing wages are set by occupation and by area. DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification (OFLC) publishes four wage levels for each occupation code in each area. Its technical release notes apply wages "for July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027 (Wage Year 2026-27)," based on BLS's May 2025 estimates, and say OFLC "will first look at OEWS wage estimates published at the MSA or non-MSA level." Nashville and New York are separate metropolitan areas, so each has its own four thresholds per occupation, and the same salary can earn a different number of lottery entries in each.
The weighted selection final rule, effective 2026-02-27, ranks each registration by the "highest Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) wage level" that "the beneficiary's proffered wage will equal or exceed" in the area of intended employment. Level IV is entered four times, Level III three, Level II two and Level I once; our explainer on weighted entries walks through the odds.
In our reading, that means comparing each offer against its own area's levels. If New York's thresholds for your occupation code are higher than Nashville's, which takes minutes to check, a salary that clears Level II in Nashville might clear only Level I in New York. Your employer's counsel assigns the code and reports the level; you can still check both before you sign.
One pending change: DOL's prevailing-wage rule (RIN 1205-AC30) is proposed, not final, as of 2026-11-01. The March 2026 proposal would move Level I from the 17th to the 34th percentile and Level IV from the 67th to the 88th. No final rule is at White House review. If one were adopted, the salary each level requires would rise in every area; until then, the current levels apply.
Worked example: an OPT timeline into a UBS Nashville role
Say you finish a STEM-designated master's in May 2026, your post-completion OPT runs from 2026-06-15 to 2027-06-14, and you join UBS Business Solutions US LLC in Nashville. These are example dates; your own EAD and I-20 govern.
Example timeline for one FY2028 lottery attempt (rules as of 2026-11)
| Date | What happens | Who acts |
|---|---|---|
| 2026-06-15 | OPT starts; each day "without employer information" counts toward the 90-day unemployment limit | You, with your DSO |
| At least 30 days before it opens | USCIS announces FY2028 registration (not announced as of 2026-11-01; March 2027 is an expectation, not a date) | USCIS |
| Registration window | UBS registers you; your salary against Nashville's levels for your occupation code sets one to four entries | UBS and its counsel |
| Before 2027-06-14 | UBS (an E-Verify-enrolled entity) signs your I-983, your DSO enters the STEM OPT recommendation, and you file the I-765 before your OPT EAD expires | You, your DSO, UBS |
| 2027-06-14 | OPT EAD end date; a STEM OPT I-765 filed on time gets the 180-day automatic extension (one filed after expiry gets none) | Automatic for timely filers |
| If selected | UBS files Form I-129 requesting a change of status; if your OPT or STEM OPT would end first, cap-gap can extend your F-1 status and work authorization toward the start date | UBS counsel; your DSO updates your I-20 |
| 2027-10-01 | Earliest FY2028 H-1B start date | None |
If you are not selected, STEM OPT can carry you into the next registration season. Under the USCIS cap-gap rule, cap-gap applies only to a timely filed, cap-subject petition that requests a change of status. It runs to April 1 of the fiscal year requested or the petition start date, whichever is earlier, and ends automatically if the petition is denied, withdrawn, revoked or rejected.
How to check whether UBS will sponsor your specific role
- Read the legal entity name on your offer letter, or ask the recruiter, because each UBS entity files separately.
- Search the USCIS H-1B Employer Data Hub, which now covers "fiscal year 2009 through fiscal year 2026 (quarter 4)," for that exact name, and compare initial with continuing approvals.
- Filter DOL's LCA disclosure files on the OFLC performance data page, latest through 2026-06-30, by the entity name to see job titles, occupation codes, worksites and wages.
- Look up the four wage levels for that occupation code in your worksite area on the FLAG OFLC Wage Search, using the 2026-27 wage year.
- Ask HR in writing whether the role supports H-1B registration and STEM OPT (E-Verify enrollment and a signed Form I-983).
- Search the PERM disclosure files on the same DOL page, if a green card matters to you.
- Take STEM OPT and cap-gap timing to your DSO, and petition or wage-level questions to UBS's immigration counsel or your own licensed immigration attorney.
Does UBS hire STEM OPT students?
UBS's public data cannot show how many OPT or STEM OPT workers it employs, because neither involves an employer petition. Post-completion OPT runs on your own EAD, so a UBS role directly related to your degree can use it with no sponsorship. STEM OPT adds employer duties: the UBS entity that employs you needs its own IRS Employer Identification Number and E-Verify enrollment, and it must sign your Form I-983 training plan. The paperwork therefore names that entity, not "UBS" in general. Our guide to the STEM OPT E-Verify requirement shows how to confirm enrollment.
Two rules are unchanged as of 2026-11-01. USCIS's STEM OPT page still says USCIS "will automatically extend your employment authorization for 180 days" for timely filers; the 2026-10-14 rule ending automatic EAD extensions does not touch that. And the SEVIS Help Hub unemployment counter still allows 90 days on OPT and 150 days in aggregate on STEM OPT.
Does UBS sponsor for investment banking analysts?
The public data cannot confirm it role by role. The Data Hub shows no job titles or business lines, so UBS Securities LLC's 16 FY2024 initial approvals show new employment at the securities entity, not which desk it was for. DOL's LCA files show the titles.
A common analyst path runs from a summer internship on CPT, to a full-time start on OPT, to the lottery. SEVP's August 2026 broadcast BCM 2608-01 allows CPT only "if its absence would make the attainment of a degree an impossibility." That guidance is in effect and challenged in AAU v. DHS, with a preliminary-injunction hearing set for 2026-11-06 at 3:00 p.m. (check the court docket for the outcome after 2026-11-06). Several schools have paused CPT, so ask your DSO before accepting a summer offer that depends on it.
For the full-time offer, an analyst seat is usually the most junior on its team, so check where its salary lands against the worksite area's levels. Under weighted selection, that comparison, not the bank's name, sets your entries. Seats are also scarcer: Revelio Labs reported in October 2026 that junior headcount at US banks was 4.7% below October 2022, which its authors read as restructuring rather than automation. That covers US banks as a group, not UBS alone.
Does UBS sponsor green cards?
The H-1B data does not answer this. Employment green cards for most bank roles start with PERM labor certification, and DOL's OFLC performance data page publishes PERM disclosure files you can filter by employer name, the latest (FY2026 Q3) covering determinations through 2026-06-30. Search each UBS entity separately.
- UBS is not on DOL's suspension list. On 2026-10-08, DOL announced it had suspended eight employers from PERM: Microsoft, Adobe, Cognizant, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, HCL and Capgemini. As of 2026-11-01 no written notice or end date had been published, and Mayer Brown notes the action "does not suspend any employer from the H-1B program."
- PERM is slow. DOL's FLAG processing times (as of 2026-10-21) show analyst review at January 2026 priority dates, with an average of 303 days for August 2026 determinations. Check the live page before relying on these.
- The queue depends on your country. In the November 2026 Visa Bulletin, Final Action Dates are 2013-11-01 for EB-2 India, 2014-01-22 for EB-3 India and 2025-04-01 for EB-2 rest of world. USCIS requires the Dates for Filing chart for November I-485s; consular cases always use Final Action Dates. The December bulletin was not out as of 2026-11-01.
- New PERM rules are not out. DOL's labor-market-test proposal (RIN 1205-AC29) cleared White House review on 2026-10-23 but is unpublished, so 20 CFR 656.17 still applies.
Our guide to checking whether a company sponsors green cards shows how to read PERM filings against LCA volume. When UBS starts PERM for a given role is a question for HR and the employer's counsel.
Common mistakes
- Searching "UBS" once and stopping. Each entity files under its own legal name, so search the exact name on your offer.
- Reading the Hub's city as your worksite. It is the employer's mailing address; the LCA shows where you would work.
- Treating zero denials as a guarantee. FY2024 decisions describe petitions UBS chose to file, before PA-2026-05.
- Comparing Nashville and New York offers by salary alone. Lottery entries depend on your salary against your own area's levels.
- Letting unemployment days run while you wait for a start date. Days without employer information count toward the 90-day OPT limit.
- Assuming the $100,000 payment applies to your OPT-to-H-1B change of status. It is not being collected as of 2026-11-01, and USCIS never applied it to a change of status it granted inside the US.
Frequently asked questions
Does UBS sponsor H-1B?
Yes. In the USCIS H-1B Employer Data Hub for FY2024, UBS Business Solutions US LLC received 35 initial and 190 continuing approvals and UBS Securities LLC received 16 initial and 23 continuing approvals, with no denials at either. A first H-1B from OPT still has to be selected in the wage-weighted lottery, in effect since 2026-02-27, and FY2028 registration was not announced as of 2026-11-01.
What is UBS Business Solutions in Nashville?
UBS's Nashville office is a support hub, and UBS's careers page says it offers services across technology, operations, compliance, risk, legal, human resources and finance. That page names no legal entity. UBS Business Solutions US LLC, which lists a Nashville mailing address in the USCIS Data Hub, was the larger of the two UBS filers in FY2024, with 225 first decisions, 190 of them continuing approvals. Your offer letter names the entity that would employ you.
Does UBS hire STEM OPT students?
Post-completion OPT needs no sponsorship because the EAD is yours, so a UBS role directly related to your degree can use it. For STEM OPT, the UBS entity that employs you must be enrolled in E-Verify and must sign your Form I-983 training plan. As of 2026-11-01 the unemployment limits are still 90 days on OPT and 150 days in aggregate on STEM OPT.
Does UBS sponsor green cards?
The H-1B Data Hub does not show green-card filings, so search DOL's PERM disclosure files, the latest covering cases through 2026-06-30, for each UBS entity name. UBS is not among the eight employers DOL said on 2026-10-08 it had suspended from PERM. As of 2026-10-21, DOL analysts were reviewing PERM cases filed in January 2026.
Does UBS sponsor for investment banking analysts?
The Data Hub shows no job titles or business lines, so it cannot confirm analyst sponsorship by itself. UBS Securities LLC had 16 initial approvals in FY2024, and DOL's LCA disclosure files show the titles, worksites and wages behind filings like these. An analyst moving from OPT must still be selected in the H-1B lottery, where a higher wage level for the worksite area earns more entries.

How we checked this: UBS's FY2024 figures come from the USCIS H-1B Employer Data Hub extract behind our company pages. Rules, dates and quotes were checked against the USCIS, DOL, Federal Register and UBS pages above on 2026-11-01 and 2026-11-02. The Visa Bulletin values and the CPT case schedule reflect those sources as of 2026-11-01; confirm both on the live pages, which change often.
This is general information, not legal or tax advice. Your own I-20, EAD, I-94 and notices govern your case, and your DSO (for OPT, STEM OPT and SEVIS) or a licensed immigration attorney (for petitions and status strategy) should confirm any decision.
If you are on OPT or STEM OPT and building a shortlist of banks that sponsor, F1Jobs helps international candidates run a focused search for employers with a real sponsorship record.
